Yet almost daily people fall prey to scammers who bleed them dry with offers too good to be true.
Recently I received an instant message from my sister, who lives in Florida, telling me of an offer to receive $100,000.00 from the government and all I had to do was call a phone number and speak to someone who would walk me through the steps needed to receive the money that was waiting for me.Well, there were some sure signs that led me to believe that this was a scam. First, my sister doesn’t use instant messenger and second, she knows my name and would have addressed me as George. While I was still receiving messages from her, I called her to confirm that she wasn’t messaging me and to let her know she was being hacked. As I guessed she was unaware that someone was using her name to lead people to believe the message was from her.
We live in a time when the truth is hard to find; when a person’s word means something. There was a time when an agreement was made with a handshake. Now, we sign legalized documents with triplicate copies.
In recent months we have heard so much on the news and from public officials about the Coronavirus. How we need to maintain social distancing, stay at home, wash your hands for twenty seconds while singing Happy Birthday twice, wear a mask when around others, and so on. Reports are conflicting and confusing . If only we knew what to believe!
I have good news. We have the Word of God and God does not lie. He has given us His promises. And we can stand upon His promises. He says He will never leave us nor forsake us, God sent His Son that if we believe in Him we have eternal life. We can cast all our cares upon Him because He cares for us. He sent His Spirit to indwell us and He is coming again to take us to be with Him.
Aren’t you glad that we have a God that keeps His Word?
