God Is Omnipresent Day 2

God Is Omnipresent Day 2

Scripture Passage:  Matthew 28: 19-20

Did you ever wonder what it was like for Jesus to be here on earth?  Or for those around him?  If only I could go back in time to see what Jesus was like before he started his ministry.  I mean, here is this guy who was fully God and fully human.  What would that look like in day to day normal living.  I don’t think I would want to be his brother growing up.  How can you compare to someone who was perfect?  I can hear Mary or Joseph saying to listen and obey just like your older brother.

But, on a bigger scale, how can someone be God and human.  It certainly can’t be done by humans.  And being fully God, he was omnipresent (everywhere at once).  But just because we may not understand it, comprehend it, get our minds wrapped around it, – use whatever terminology you want – doesn’t stop it from being so.  That brings me peace when I think about it.

So, where is the proof that Jesus is omnipresent?  Look at the scripture reading for today from Matthew 28.  It is referred to as the great commission.  I liked the way an article from an organization called Christian Apologetics & Research Ministry puts it referring to verse 20 where Jesus tells his disciples he will always be with them. “How can Jesus the man always be with the disciples? Obviously, the command of Christ is not just for the disciples but for all which claim to be Christians as they carry out the command to make disciples of all the nations.  We find the answer when we realize that the divine attributes of omnipresence, which is one of the properties of being divine, are claimed by Jesus. Therefore, even though he was a man, he could also say that he would be with the disciples wherever they go and whenever they go”

So, how do we wrap this up?  Jesus the human was not omnipresent.  Jesus, being God. Is.  And since he was the one person who shared both natures, he is the one and only person who is omnipresent.  And that is only one aspect of Jesus.  It also applies to the other attributes of God.  And like I said earlier, that gives me a whole bunch of peace.  Praying it does for you as well this day.
